WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PADEL BALL AND A TENNIS BALL?

THIS IS A VERY TYPICAL QUESTION AND IT USUALLY COMES UP WHEN YOU PLAY THE GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME.

HOWEVER, NOT MANY PEOPLE REALLY KNOW WHAT THE EXACT DIFFERENCE IS.

HERE IS THE ANSWER !

The padel ball is practically identical to a tennis ball, they have the same colour and same diameter.   

The difference is in the PRESSURE of the two types of balls.

Padel balls have 1 atmosphere less pressure.

This lowered pressure slows the game down just a bit.  

This makes playing padel much more fun and smashing the ball out of the court surface a bit more challenging.

I.P.F. PADEL RACQUET REGULATIONS

          THE PADEL RACQUET REGULATIONS

The game is played with a regulation padel racquet homologated by the International Padel Federation (I.P.F).

The padel racquet is made up of two parts: Head and handle

- Handle: maximum length: 20cm, wide maximum: 50mm, maximum

thickness: 50mm.

- Head: variable length. The length of the head plus the length of the handle may not exceed 45.5cm, maximum width: 26cm maximum thickness: 38mm.

The total length of the padel racquet may not exceed 45.5 centimeters.

When conducting a control of paddle measurements a tolerance of 2.5% in

the thickness will be allowed.

The hitting surface of the padel racquet is perforated by an unlimited number of cylindrical holes each measuring between 9 and 13mm in the centre area. Around the edge in an area of no more than 4cm (measured from the edge of the padel racquet) the holes may have a larger diameter or a different shape with a variable length and width while this does not affect the essence of the game.

Both sides of the padel racquet must be flat but may be smooth or rough.

The paddle must be free of any objects or devices adhered to it that are

not specifically used to limit or prevent deterioration, vibration and to distribute the weight.

As such they must be reasonable in size and positioning.

The padel racquet must have a non elastic cord of a maximum length of 35cm

fixed into the handle which must be put around the wrist as protection against

accidents. Its use is obligatory.

The padel racquet may not have any visible or audible device which could

communicate, warn or give instructions to the player, during the course of a game.

         DEMO DE PALAS VOLKL NITRO PRO DE PITU LOSADA EN SPORTCLUB ALICANTE

El fin de semana del 22, 23, 24 de Octubre en las instalaciones de Sportclub Alicante tuvo lugar el campeonato de España de Veteranos en su fase clasificatoria.

La marca de palas VÖLKL que patrocina al español Pitu Losada brindó a los asistentes el poder recibir consejos del actual campeón del mundo y todos pudieron disfrutar de las sensaciones de juego de la Pala VÖLKL NITRO PRO.

El modelo estrella de la colección  brilló entre los jugadores. Las ventajas que destacaron los jugadores fueron  su gran jugabilidad, un control exquisito, confort en en el impacto y un grado de  potencia muy elevado.

También Pitu manifestó que la pala VÖLKL NITRO PRO con la que juega es una pala que le han fabricado a su gusto y no tiene ninguna modificación sobre las que se pueden adquirir luego en las tiendas.

We are delighted to announce for the first time in our history a genuine 'Padel Team Canada' has been put together.  The following individuals are our 2010 Men's Padel Team Canada representing us at the upcoming World Padel Championships in Mexico on November 28th to Dec 5th 2010.

PADEL ASSOCIATION OF CANADA

MAXIMUM PADEL WELCOMES THE PADEL ASSOCIATION OF CANADA AND IN ABLE TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO FOLLOW THEIR STEPS OVER THE WORLD HAS COPIED SOME FANTASTIC INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THEM ON THEIR WEB SITE.
                                         

The Padel Association of Canada (PAC) was formed in 1992. The PAC is a non-profit Canadian Registered Amateur Athletic Association and is the national governing body for the sport of Padel in Canada. The mission of the PAC is to grow and promote the sport of padel in Canada.

Padel was introduced to the Calgary area by Bill Stamile. He discovered the sport while visiting his native country of Argentina in 1991. Upon his return, he founded the PAC and worked to build the first two padel courts in Canada.

PAC has been actively involved in promoting the sport of padel to Canadians through a series of clinics, orientations, tournaments and special events since 1992.

PAC’s “headquarters” is currently located at A.E. Cross Junior High School in southwest Calgary. Because of its location, the association has seen a substantial increase in participation from school children and the general public alike. The association is now seeking to build an indoor facility in conjunction with other racquet sports. This next step is important as it will keep the sport of padel alive year round with programs, clinics, special events and both local and international tournaments.

Today, Padel Canada continues to thrive and develop the game through the construction of new courts, junior development programs, and ongoing representation in international events. Padel Canada sent its first national team to an international tournament in 1993. In 2008, Padel Canada was proud to host World Championships in Calgary.

Mission Statement

The purposes for which the Padel Association of Canada was formed are:

• To promote and develop the game of padel as a marvelous and fun way to exercise, and gain physical fitness.
• To establish and maintain the rules of play.
• To establish a code of conduct for players.
• To set high standards of amateurism.
• To support national and international amateur padel tournaments.
• To promote padel to both public and private individuals and groups interested in a new recreational activity.

Padel Racquets

The padel is solid being made mostly from light composite materials. The surface is perforated to lighten the racquet and to allow for airflow. The face of the padel is relatively large measuring 26cm X 29cm (10in x 12in) and the overall length is 45cm (18in). This shorter padel is much easier to control than a longer stringed tennis style racquet.

As a result, from the first time on court, novice padel players of all ages and racquet skills can enjoy a well-paced game with plenty of rallies.
